Marco Sartori viene ingaggiato dal costruttore edile Gaetano Sampioni in qualità di guardiaspalle. Da qualche tempo, infatti, Sampioni riceve telefonate attraverso le quali ignoti criminali tentano di estorcergli una grossa somma di denaro, minacciando pesanti ritorsioni che puntualmente si verificano dopo l'ennesimo rifiuto da parte dell'imprenditore. Quest'ultimo, terrorizzato, pare ormai sul punto di cedere: ma Sartori prende l'iniziativa e compie una mossa inaspettata...
