Descrizione:
Jack Mabry è un poliziotto carcerario incaricato di valutare le reali buone intenzioni dei detenuti che chiedono che venga loro concessa una decurtazione della pena. Jack è ormai vicino alla pensione e vuole chiudere il caso che gli è stato affidato. Si tratta di Gerald 'Stone' Creeson, condannato per complicità nell'omicidio dei suoi nonni e nel successivo incendio della loro abitazione. Gerald ha un'affascinante consorte, Lucetta, disposta a tutto per ottenere la sua liberazione. Le fa pressioni perché contatti Jack, un uomo che conduce una vita in cui la religione ha un forte peso.
