Dopo aver esplorato le carriere della Band e Bob Dylan in The Last Waltz e No Direction Home: Bob Dylan, rispettivamente, acclamato regista Martin Scorsese gira il suo obiettivo sul rock & roll leggende dei Rolling Stones per questa funzione, concentrandosi su due concerti della band del 2006 A Bigger Bang Tour. Oltre a un'ampia copertura dello stand della band di due notti al Beacon Theater di New York (un impegno che è stato messo in scena come parte della sontuosa festa di compleanno del presidente Bill Clinton), il film vanta anche filmati storici, interviste e dietro le quinte da decenni.
